βοΈ Dismantling Capitalism
Building a world beyond capitalism requires us to uncage our minds.
In this book club, we commit 60-mins, a book at a time, to learn about and dismantle capitalistic systems that run our world. And together, explore tangible alternative ways to live.
Everyone is welcome.
Upcoming: July (TBC)
Let's discuss how colonialism and consumerism relate to capitalism and what we can do about it.
ποΈ Date: July (TBC)
π Time: TBC (SGT)
ποΈ Price: TBC
π Venue: Online
About the session:
We're starting with Aja Barber's "Consumed" as it is a beginner-friendly book that touches upon colonialism and consumerism, which are topics that relate to capitalism.
The book club is deliberately kept small as intimate sessions are more conducive for everyone to participate. We have 5 spots!
We'll be using the book as a springboard to discuss wider topics. We won't be going in-depth into the book's content.
Chapters to read:
Chapter 1
Sustainability & Me (The last section: "The Basement Years")
Chapter 2
Colonisation: The Root of the Problem
This book club is in its infancy and there will be changes as we go along. I canβt wait to grow this community with all of you.

Hmm, why not? Let's unpack that β capitalism is built on the exploitation of labour, and I discourage the expectation of free things when there is labour involved. Hope this changes your perspective. For financial accessibility, I offer 1 mutual aid slot per session. Reach out with the contact form below.

You can borrow it from NLB (e-book and physical book) or purchase your own copy from Hive.
I am not affiliated with them but it is a platform that supports independent bookstores across the UK. I will be investing in building a small physical library moving forward for books that aren't easily available in Singapore.
